What is fractional radiofrequency?

The classic radiofrequency method applied in the medical field for many years has also been used in skin treatment and cosmetology for a long time. Due to technology development, this method has evolved considerably. Adding two new features to the classical radiofrequency method has made it extremely effective. Firstly, the radiofrequency method was fractionated. The power of this technique is now applied to tiny targeted points side by side rather than to a wider area. This ensures less damage as the tissues in between remains intact. With this, the second generation radiofrequency devices for "fractional radiofrequency" commonly known as Thermage devices appeared on the market. Thermage radiofrequency device still affects all layers of skin. After that, another innovation was introduced. And now the radiofrequency devices of the third generation use microneedles to deliver energy flow straight into the skin.

The radiofrequency unit, equipped with microneedles has a current output unit that delivers energy into the middle layer called the dermis without affecting the epidermis - the outer skin layer. The lengths of the microneedles used range from 0.5 to 3.0 mm. Since the microneedles used here are made of gold, this method is referred to as "golden needle" in some countries. The novelty of the method is that the current flow does not go through the entire needle, but only through its tip. Thus, with much less damage, much better results are obtained.

How is fractional radiofrequency applied?

Generally, 2 sessions are made with an interval of 4 weeks to increase skin quality and reduce wrinkles. However, more sessions may be needed for wound and acne scars. 1-2 days after the procedure redness and sometimes a slight crust can be observed. The next day after the procedure you can use make-up to cover the treated area and go on with your social life. It takes a few weeks to see the effect.
